Upcoming family wedding

One of the top news items lately actually has to do with one of my family members. My dear cousin William is getting married! The time has finally come for him to propose to Kate and it comes as no big surprise to the family. We'll see about Harry though, he is less predictable. Okay, William is not my 'dear' cousin. I have never met him or any of his immediate family. They don't even know I exist. But, he's still my 21st cousin. Yep, that's right, my TWENTY FIRST cousin. Yes, I've spent so much time doing family research that I have that relationship perfectly calculated out. Twenty one generations ago we shared the same grandparents, which I still think is pretty awesome! Perhaps while I'm home over Christmas, I'll bring back some of the rest of the ton of genealogy research I've done in the past. I love learning about the history of my family and what their lives were like.

So, Bethany, the almost eight year old I nanny/tutor/give piano lessons to was telling me this little story of how there's this Prince Philip (I tried to correct her saying his name is actually Charles, to no avail) and his wife had a baby, William, and then he told this girl that she needed to marry him and so they are going to get married next month. I proceeded to tell her that William is actually my 21st cousin, which means we are related but really really far apart. She got so excited, she ran to the phont to call her father at work to tell him! I learned my lesson, that's the last time I do something like that again! Oh how I love children.
